Jordan Gets Married!

My oldest son, Jordan, married Rose Card in the LDS Provo Temple on August 9, 2008. The ceremony was short and sweet. Their reception was held the day before the wedding at Rose's parents' home in Orem, Utah. We had a luncheon for about 86 people at the Northampton House in American Fork and it was very nice. Hannah and Nate added much needed class and ambience to the occasion when they played jazz piano and saxophone whilst guests arrived at the reception hall. They played beautifully.

It was a very interesting day for me. I felt almost uncannily calm---almost abnormal for me. I think it was because I did not really want to be in Utah and I felt that I did not have any relatives on my side to give me the needed support I needed. I was so grateful my sister and brother-in-law came all the way from Mission Viejo, California. That was SO needed.

I had another interesting, unexpected experience. While sitting in the waiting room in the temple, Nate's mom, Kristi, walked into the room alone to attend the sealing. She had driven Nate all the way from Henderson, Nevada so he could play the sax at the luncheon and I invited her to come to the sealing. I did not expect that she would come but come she did. What was unexpected was my reaction---upon seeing her, I felt a wave of relief to see a familiar face from home. It was so out of context because she did not belong to my family nor to Kurt's family but precisely because it was out of context and because she was part of my 'home', it just felt so good to see her. She will never know the impact she had just being there. It was so comforting.

Anyway, the luncheon was nice and I made sure I took care of small details that made it all special.

It was also so sweet that Jordan's cadre of close friends came from far away places---from Washington D.C., Arizona, etc... just to be with him and support him. That was very touching.

Jordan and Rose are now on their way to Washington DC where Jordan will complete two more years of law school at George Washington University. It will be very exciting for both of them to have this new adventure. I am SO happy that he has Rose and that he is so happy with her.
